What’s On this Spring 2026

Spring is in the air! The Garden comes alive with blossom-filled trees, vibrant Glasshouse blooms and carpets of spring bulbs.

03 March 2026

From peaceful seasonal walks to brand-new and hands-on family activities, exhibitions and expert talks, the Garden offers countless ways to experience the beauty and wonder of plants at this uplifting time of year.

Seasonal Highlights

🌸Cherry Blossom: Look out for the elegant Yoshino cherry (Prunus yedoensis) on the Main Lawn, where soft clouds of pale pink create one of the season’s most anticipated displays enjoyed by visitors.

🌸Jade Vine: Inside the Tropics House in the Glasshouse Range, the spectacular Jade Vine (Strongylodon macrobotrys) offers a striking contrast to the outdoor blossom.

🌸Magnolias: Magnolias take centre stage as bold goblet blooms and starry flowers appear next to the Stream Garden.

🌸National Collections: In the Mountains House, curated displays from the Garden’s National Collections showcase the intricate beauty of Fritillaria, Tulipa and Saxifraga.

🌱Talking Plants: Experience plants in a completely new way with our experimental exhibition, Talking Plants. Visitors can talk to plants in the Glasshouse Range, asking them questions and opening up new ways to explore and understand our living collection. QR codes placed next to 20 of our interesting and rare plants allow visitors to scan and start their conversations. Available until 12 April.

For Families

🪻NEW – Welly Walk: Pre-school age children can engage with the Garden, plants and wildlife through a walk, activity and story. Taking place monthly from 19 March.

🪻NEW – Easter Plant Puzzle: The Garden’s wildlife have hidden six puzzles for you to solve, then claim your prize at the Ticket Office. Trail booklets cost £1 and are suitable for ages 3+. Available 20 March-20 April.

🪻Family Saturdays: Get creative this spring and try printing with vegetables, creating your own cherry blossoms and planting seeds you can grow, harvest and cook with! Taking place on the first Saturday of the month, 10am-1pm.

🪻Crazy Cone Caper Trail: Become an investigator and track down who has been stealing seeds from our pinecones. Pick up a booklet from the Ticket Office on your way in. Available until 20 March.

🌿Science on Sundays: Our free, informal, monthly series of talks are back, sharing the latest discoveries in plant science and research. Find out why broad beans improve mental and planetary health, how modern ideas constrain the flourishing of forest ecosystems and human societies and conserving the little things that run the world. Taking place from 22 March until 16 August.

🌿International Garden Photographer of the Year (IGPOTY) Exhibition: Enjoy exploring a selection of stunning, winning images from the 19th IGPOTY Exhibition, including highlight’s from the ‘Around the World at Cambridge University Botanic Garden’ competition. Taking place from 20 March until 6 May.

🌿Tours and Talks: Enjoy free daily tours and talks throughout the Easter holidays. Explore seasonal stars with an expert guide during a 60-minute Garden tour from 11.30am and gain an insight into a specific plant in our collection with a 15-minute plant talk from 1.30pm. Taking place from 28 March to 12 April. Tours will also take place during term time at 11.30am on Wednesdays, Saturdays and Sundays. All start from the orange flag on the Main Lawn.

🌿Short Courses: Be inspired by spring and get creative, learn a new skill or develop your understanding of plants with our range of Short Courses – there’s something for everyone!
