This winter, Cambridge University Botanic Garden will once again transform after dark into a spectacular trail of light, colour and sound, celebrating the extraordinary world of plants. And this year, we’re inviting your gnomes to become part of the magic.
We’re creating a special gnome display for this year’s Cambridge Botanic Lights and er need your help to bring it to life.
Donate a gnome
If you have garden gnomes looking for a new adventure, we’d love to give it a new home amongst the lights.
To help create the display, we’re looking for gnomes that are:
- Good quality
- Waterproof
- Family-friendly
- Full of character!
You can donate your gnome by placing it in one of the collection boxes at either the Brookside or Station Road entrances to the Garden.
By donating your gnome, you are giving it a permanent new home at Cambridge Botanic Lights. Unfortunately, donated gnomes cannot be returned, so please only donate one you’re happy to part with.
Come and visit your gnome
Once the trail opens, your gnome will become part of an enchanting, illuminated display, surrounded by thousands of visitors enjoying one of Cambridge’s most magical winter experiences.
Why not book your tickets and come along to see if you can spot your gnome in its new home? It’s a wonderful excuse to make new memories with family and friends while exploring the Garden after dark.
From glowing pathways and immersive installations to beautifully illuminated landscapes, Cambridge Botanic Lights offers a unique evening celebrating the beauty and wonder of plants. Every ticket also helps support the Garden, with ticket income (excluding booking fees0 going directly towards caring for the living collections, conserving rare plants and inspiring future generations.
