The month of May sees the Botanic Garden at a magical time of year. Colourful blooms vie for our attention, from deep purple iris to bright red peonies, from pink Prunus blossom to white lace cow parsley; all these add to the painter’s palette. Reinhild will help you create a painted bouquet or a portrait of an individual flower, using various watercolour techniques. The larger blooms will require a wet-in-wet method with dry brush work needed for the finer detail. This will be through group demonstration, but mainly through individual guidance. As always, important elements of the course are observation of the plant, a true portrayal of it through drawing and painting, and lastly the sheer joy of it.
This course is suitable for all levels with group and individual guidance. A suggested materials list will be provided a few weeks before the start of the course.
Reinhild is a qualified teacher as well as an experienced Botanical Artist. She received her first of four gold medals from the RHS for her monograph on the genus Saintpaulia. Many of her illustrations are housed at Kew in their permanent collection. Reinhild regularly holds major exhibitions of her work in London and Bury St Edmunds.
Bookings for this course will close 18 April
