(ANA Grade Angiosperms)
Amborellales (along with Nymphaeales and Austrobaileyales) form the ‘ANA grade’ of early diverging flowering plants. A. trichopoda is a shrub with flowers that are small and lack petals. The plant either produces male or female flowers, but can switch from one to the other in different seasons. Sex organs are arranged spirally around shoot tips.
