This late summer daisy is putting on a show in the Herbaceous Beds.

Eurybia is a northern hemisphere genus containing 27 species of herbaceous perennials bearing white or blue daisy-like flowers. E. x herveyi is a bushy perennial reaching 1m in height and having branching stems and heads of starry, pale blue flowers with a yellow eye. This is a valuable aster for late summer colour, which will continue to produce flowers into autumn. It enjoys full sun, and is tolerant of dry shade, and is also valuable in being mildew free, unlike some asters to which it is closely related. E. x herveyi is a naturally occurring hybrid of E. macrophylla and E. spectabilis, and its natural range is the north-eastern United States. It also goes under the names Aster macrophyllus ‘Twilight’, Eurybia macrophylla ‘Twilight’, and Aster ‘Twilight’. ‘
