Community workshop – Seasonal Poetics

A series of workshops launched in 2026 to offer community member beneficiaries the opportunity to respond to the Garden in poetry and prose

Beneficiaries from a range of community member groups have been coming together each season for a creative writing workshop to explore the changing seasons through poetry, prose and careful observation.

Seasonal Poetics: Spring, Summer and Autumn

Workshop participants respond to the Garden with poetry and prose

Seasonal Garden Poetics is a new creative writing workshop in the Botanic Garden that invites participants to explore the changing seasons through poetry, prose, and attentive observation.

Led by poet and writer, Caroline Druitt, a group is welcomed into the Garden each season. So far in 2026 we have met in the spring, summer and autumn, with the last workshop due this winter.

The activity involves a walk around the Garden to gather colours, textures, scents and sensory details, before moving indoors for guided readings, discussion and creative exercises.

What are Community workshops?

The Community workshops are one of the benefits for organisations that join the Garden’s Community Membership Scheme. The Community Membership Scheme is open to local community groups with a charitable purpose, supporting those who face barriers to visiting the Garden. Terms and conditions apply, please click through to this page for full details.
