Summer of savings at Cambridge University Botanic Garden

Make the most of summer with discounted entry, family trails, creative activities, live music and a beautiful garden to explore.

29 June 2026

Families can enjoy a fun-filled day out at Cambridge University Botanic Garden this summer, with reduced admission prices available as part of the Government’s Great British Summer Savings initiative.

The scheme is a UK-wide temporary VAT cut from 20% to 5% on attraction entry during the summer to help reduce the cost of family days out.

From 25 June to 1 September, adult admission tickets will be just £8.50 including Gift Aid, or £7.60 for a standard adult ticket. As always, children up to the age of 16, carers, Friends of the Garden and University of Cambridge students can enter for free.

Open from 10am to 6pm everyday throughout the summer, the Garden is the perfect place to spend time outdoors, with 40 acres of beautiful green space to explore in the heart of Cambridge.

Families can explore the Garden on a trail with Professor Filbert and get creative with a range of drop-in activities, such as plant printing, creating summer wands and finding out more about our amazing carnivorous plants. Make the most of the long summer evenings with live music amongst the Garden’s beautiful blooms on Wednesday evenings throughout July. From uplifting brass and dynamic jazz to Balkan rhythms and Brazilian samba, visitors can settle in for a relaxed summer evening of music and nature with fun for all the family.

There’s something new to discover around every corner, from the vibrant Bee Borders, Scented Garden and Glasshouse Range to the Fountain, Rising Path and Systematic Beds.

Home to more than 8,000 plant species from across the world, including rare and endangered plants, Cambridge University Botanic Garden offers families the chance to connect with nature, explore together and enjoy a memorable day out. The Garden’s collections support University teaching, research and conservation, while inspiring visitors of all ages to explore the amazing world of plants.

From exploring the Garden’s collections to enjoying a bite to eat at the Garden Cafe and browsing the Garden and Gift Shops, there’s plenty to make a summer visit special!

Kettle’s Yard is also participating in the scheme with adult house tickets costing £11.50 (£13 with a donation) and £5.75 for Art Fund card holders (£7 with a donation). Entry remains free for under 25s, carers, Friends and University of Cambridge students.

‘The Great British Summer Savings scheme is a great opportunity to discover and enjoy two fantastic attractions in the heart of Cambridge. Whether you’re exploring the Botanic Garden’s beautiful outdoor spaces, taking part in our family trail and drop-in activities, or enjoying the inspiring exhibitions and creative experiences at Kettle’s Yard, there is something for everyone to enjoy.’
