In this workshop aimed at children in the Key Stage 2 age group (8 – 11 years old) we will be visiting the glasshouses to learn about how plants survive in the rainforest, mountains and deserts. Children will also be able to get an up-close view of our carnivorous plant collection and learn how and why these plants catch their food. Each session includes loads of hands-on activities and we always make our own paper pots and plant a seed for you to grow on at home.

Our workshops are led by our experienced Learning Officers with help from our volunteers.

The workshop activities are designed for children in the age group stated. We understand you may need to bring a younger or older child with you. Please ensure that you include any child aged 4+ on your booking. They may be able to join in with some elements of the workshop, but the content will be aimed at the age range advertised.

Much of this event is outdoors, please dress for the weather.

Booking information

  • Booking is essential.
  • Accompanying adults are responsible for their children at all times and expected to stay and join in as part of these family workshops.

  • If you have two children aged 4+ attending, please book two tickets.
  • If you want to bring more than one adult per booked child place, they will need to pay Garden entry.
